An Interview With Our Brand Ambassador Ben Yeoh
1. When did you started weights training? What encouraged you to be a personal trainer?
I started weightlifting right before college time when I was inspired by my friend
2. Why do you think cardio, like running, cycling, etc. is important in your personal training program?
Honestly, at the beginning of my programs were focused more on resistance training and heavier lifting. I later realized the benefits of cardio conditioning in building overall muscle endurance and fitness, as well as facilitate fat loss. You need to have both for better performance, which brings faster results.
3. What are your personal advice or the newbies venturing into an active lifestyle fitness program?
I believe that some physical activity is better than none, even as little as 10-15mins daily. Everyone starts at their own personal level, don't compare yourself with someone else and set unrealistic expectations. Sure it's good to have a goal and a target to beat, but we need to progressively build up to that fitness level. Otherwise as seen in many cases, injuries happen that will set you back even longer. Ultimately, you want to choose an activity which is enjoyable and suits your lifestyle. Sustainability and longevity matters. More importantly, Just Start!
4. As part of "The Dream Chaser", in your own words explain how you contribute to the ultra-running community?
In the running community, I'm still a newbie. Through years of training with and meeting people from various background and fitness level, I'd hope to use this valuable opportunity to share my knowledge and experience particularly in fitness conditioning, nutrition for better health and performance, to inspire each other that it's not too late to start.... and to grow and attain our "Dreams" together:)
